Design and Technology Project Management
Due to demand from schools and a belief that we can offer something unique, we have recently launched a Design and Technology Project Management service to allow us to manage and deliver COMPLETE SOLUTIONS for new or refurbished departments.

Our project management team is unique in that we have all taught Design and Technology either in schools or FE. The team even includes three ex Heads of Department. Nearly fifty years of combined teaching experience, and our in-depth knowledge of the latest technologies, allows us to create the best solution for schools.

TechSoft can project manage the whole process if required; from initial consultations, through design and planning, to supply, installation, commissioning and servicing of the FULL RANGE OF EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEMS that may be required. Lastly, we also offer the best support and training available to make sure that your new department will be up and running with the minimum of hassle.

Southern Education and Library Board (NI)
invests in TechSoft CAD/CAM
The Southern Education and Library Board (SELB) recently purchased sixteen RotoCAMM MDX-40E machines for use by schools in their region. The Clounagh Centre hosted a one day training and information seminar on the use of CAD/CAM in the classroom. The event was supported by TechSoft who demonstrated and explained a variety of uses and applications of CNC in the classroom. The machines used for the training (MDX-40E) have been purchased for long term loan to schools.

After the success of the launch seminar the team at Clounagh Centre have decided to purchase 2D Design for all of the schools in their region who do not currently have licenses. Since rollling out this initiative there has also been a subsequent order for a further six MDX-40E machines bringing the total number of machines in the Southern Education and Library Board to twenty two.

RouterCAM Takes off!
We are delighted with early sales of our new large-format routing systems, the RouterCAM 1220 and RouterCAM 700 models. Schools wanting to profile components for full-size furniture will find these robust industry-proven workhorses to be exactly what they need. Capable of flying through timber and alloy at astonishing speed, the RouterCAM is as simple to operate as our smaller mills so large-scale projects will not mean large-scale re-training.

3D Printing with Dimension– The Obvious Choice
Clean, quiet and capable of building fully-functional parts, the Dimension 3D Printer has met with unprecedented success in design studios throughout the world. Through TechSoft, schools and colleges in the UK have been able to benefit from this through price reductions and this state-of the-art technology is now available for its lowest price ever. Students of design need to understand the huge significance Rapid Prototyping has in industry and we are convinced that the Dimension represents the best possible technology for this purpose. Any investment in RP is not going to be cheap, but (as many schools, colleges and Learning Centres have discovered) when a simple price / performance check is made, the Dimension is in a class of its own.

CAD/CAM Sewing and Embroidery
The Innov-is range of computerised embroidery systems from Brother have proved a popular addition to our product range. The new PE-DESIGN LITE software will give you plenty to get started with a full CAD/CAM embroidery experience. Creative embroidery can now build on prior learning with 2D Design V2. Students can design their embroidery in V2 and simply use PE-DESIGN (V7 or LITE) as the last stage to create the stitch pattern and output to the machine. With more and more content to get to grips with in D&T, using a common CAD platform has got to make sense. Providing a suitable tool to do this has been one of our prime objectives in developing V2.

Free CAD/CAM days – Covering the Country
A fantastic way to discover more about CAD/CAM. We now provide free one-day courses at training facilities in North Wales, South Wales, Surrey and Edinburgh. Programmes cover the full range of CAD/CAM options available and are a great way to inspire new project ideas or to look at machines in more detail. Within the programme are some more closely-focussed Inset opportunities aimed at meeting the demand for training for individual teachers rather than whole departments. Places are limited so booking is essential.

Lasers Rule (told you so!)
When lasers were added to the TechSoft range we predicted that they would become the ‘must have’ tool for the CAM bit of CAD/CAM in D&T. How right we were!
